「はぁ！せい！」 「うわ！？な、なんだ？」 昨夜の歓迎会から、貴一は心機一転しさらなる熱意をこのプロデューサーの仕事へ傾けることを決意していた。 それが良かったのか、今日は遅刻もせずに済んだ。当然、遅刻などしない方がいい。 “タキプロ”にある自室の作業デスクに向かおうとした貴一の耳に、鼓膜を破壊しかねんほどの怒声が届いた。 慌てて貴一は声のする方へと向かう。そこはライダー少女候補生がよく訓練に使う部屋だった。 案の定、そこには候補生の一人、千守 初花がいた。 何故か空手で使うかのような道着を身に着けて。 「てい！やぁ！」 初花は大量の汗を流しつつ、正拳、蹴りと、一定の動作を反復して行う“型”と呼ばれるものに励んでいた。 素人目から見ても、初花の動きはかなり洗練されている。気づけば、貴一はその流麗な動きに見惚れていた。 「ふぅー･･･」 一通りの動作を終えて、ようやく初花は構えを解き、呼吸を整える。 彼女の頑張りに敬意を表すように、貴一は手近にあった彼女の物と思われるタオルを投げて寄こした。 「プロデューサー。」 素早く反応した初花はあっさりとタオルを手にし、汗をそれで拭いつつ貴一へと歩み寄る。 「なんだか威勢のいい声が聞こえてね。途中からだけど、ずっと見ていたよ。」 「あ･･･すいません、お粗末なものを見せちゃって･･･」 「そんなことないって！」 貴一はややムキになって言い返そうとするが、初花は首を横に振りそれを許さない。 「昨日の･･･ファイズィーとオルフェノクの戦い。私、ショックでした。まだまだ私なんか、足元にも及ばない。 もしもあの場に入っていたら、間違いなく足手まといになっていました。」 「千守さん･･･」 「だから、強くなりたい。その為には、努力を惜しみません。」 初花は真正面から貴一の目を見る。それだけで、貴一は彼女の中に溢れる熱い心を感じ取れた気がした。 才能もあり、しかし努力を怠らない。プロデューサーの立場で言えば、またとない逸材だ。 彼女を立派なライダー少女に育て上げた時、それは自分自身にも大きな成長をもたらすだろう。 貴一のライダー少女プロデューサーの決意が、より堅固なものとなる。 「じゃあ、俺はプロデューサーとして、千守さんがライダー少女になれるように頑張るよ。」 「はい！」 どちらからともなく差し出された手は、すぐに固く結ばれた。 互いの熱い心が通った瞬間と言えよう。 「でもなぁ･･･」 「？？？」 シャワーを終え、着替えを済ませた初花は貴一と一緒に休憩室にいた。 しばらく今後の方針を話し合っていた二人だったが、貴一は困ったように唸りだす。 「確かに、今の流行は“体”だし、それを伸ばすのはいいことだと思うけど･･･」 「思うけど、なんです？」 「うん･･･こう言うのもなんだけど、千守さんには可愛らしさが欠けている気がするんだ。」 ライダー少女は今や、一大ブームになるほどの人気を誇る。 そのブームの中に、ライダー少女たちの華やかさや愛らしさといったものがあるのも事実。 しかし、晴海はともかく、初花にはそれが致命的に欠けていた。 戦闘ということに関しては、ライダー少女になればすぐに第一線で活躍できるほどだろう。 しかし、そこに魅力が伴わなければ、ファンが増えるとはとてもじゃないが言えない。 このままでは、初花はバイオレンスなライダー少女になってしまうのではという危惧が貴一にはあった。 だが、初花は眉を寄せて少し怒りを語調に籠める。 「お言葉ですがプロデューサー。そんなものを追及するより、もっと実戦に対応できるようにしておくべきでは。 無駄に着飾ったりすることは、はっきり言って時間の無駄です。」 「む、無駄って･･･」 さらに貴一を悩ませているのは、初花自身がそういったものに殆ど無頓着なことだった。 服装も動きやすいスポーツウェアなどが中心だし、たまに買い物に行ったかと思えば、買う物は筋トレグッズ。 これで可愛らしさを身にせよという方に無理がある。 「体を鍛えるのも大事だよ。でもね、ライダー少女を目指すなら、やっぱり可愛らしさを磨くのも･･･」 「それで敵に負けてしまっては、意味がないです。」 「う･･･」 あくまで初花は魅力を高めることに興味はないらしい。 どうしたものかと悩む貴一に、ある妙案が浮かんだ。 浮かんだ以上はさっそく発言。“即決・即行・即死”のモットーだ。 「マンガとか読む？」 「はい？マンガ･･･ですか？」 初花は首を傾げるが、もちろん貴一にはちゃんと狙いがある。 魅力を上げる気がないのなら、こちらから引き出せばいいのだ。 例えば、普段はトレーニング好きの少女が、典型的な少女マンガを愛読していたりしたら、それこそギャップによる魅力だ。 これを利用すれば、初花の意外な一面を知ってファンも増えるかもしれない。 貴一の胸が期待で高鳴る。 やや置いて、ようやく初花は口を開けた。 「読みますよ。」 「本当！？」 まずは第一関門クリア。あとは期待するマンガを読んでいるかどうかだ。 「“は○めの○歩”とか、“○ラップ○ー刃○”とか。」 「･･････」 が、あっさりとその期待も崩れ去る。初花が愛読していたのは格闘マンガだったのだ。 「ああいうマンガって凄く面白いし、紹介されているトレーニングとかも凄く効果的で･･･」 「は･･･はは･･･」 それから延々と、初花は格闘マンガの魅力を語り尽くした。 貴一は思い知る。初花は頭の中まで筋肉でできているのでは、と。 いかにして彼女の魅力を引き出せばいいのか。ある意味、早くも“即死”だった。 Training clear！ 初花の“体”が成長！！ 心：0 技：2 体：3→4 |
