誠は、一人呟くと、左腕に付けた時計を見ながら、少々悪態をついた。 病院からこの郊外までは、精々大人の足で１０分程度で付ける場所だが、生粋の方向音痴である誠には、そのような時間でたどり着けるわけが無く、楠木町の街をぐるぐると回った挙げ句、やっとの思いで到着したのだが、街を軽く２週ほど回る距離を歩いている。 「・・・・鈴達も無事ならばいいのだが」 誠は、自分一人だけしかいない為か、鈴達の向かった高層ビル群の方に視線を向けて、 あまり分かりにくい表情だが、心配そうな瞳で見つめていた。 「キュルルル！！！」 誠が、高層ビル群に眼を傾けていた数舜の間から、地面から大量のレギオンの軍勢が、わき上がり誠を取り囲むように、溢れかえった。 その数は、誠は知るよしもないが既に、鈴達が相手をした数を上回っている。 「・・・・ここで、当たりだったようだな。」 その数に誠は、動じることなく、いつものように無表情で、つまらなそうに呟いた。 「・・・・アースシェイク」 誠は、低いけれども、空気を切り裂く様な通った声をさせる。 そして、地面に拳を叩きつける瞬間に仮面ライダーフォルスの紋章が輝き、立つことも不可能なほどの地震が起こす。 誠を取り囲もうとしたクリーチャーは、大地震で再び生じた隆起した大地によって、次々と押し潰されていた。 「キュルルルル！！」 されど、押しつぶした地面からさらに、大量のレギオンが、滝のようにあふれでてくる。 「・・・・貴様らなどに、構っている暇はない。」 誠は、背中に背負っている身の丈を越える大剣を引き抜き、そのレギオンの大群に一人突撃していく。 「予想外ノ邪魔ガ合ッタガココマデハ、順調ニ進ンデイルノダナ？」 琥珀蟷螂は、籐子を抱えた状態で司祭に、問いかける。 「ああ、噂ではあの冷酷非道の悪魔が、予想以上に甘いのでこちらも驚いている。 後は、あの者次第だな。」 司祭は、藤子の方に視線を傾ける。 「コノ者ナラバ、大丈夫ダ。何セ私ガ、二年モカケテ育テタノダカラナ。」 琥珀蟷螂は、藤子に満足そうな笑みを向けた。 「・・・まあいいさ。それでは、最後の準備に取りかかろうか。」 司祭は、そう告げた。 「アア。」 琥珀蟷螂は、その言葉に相づちをうった。 「・・・・チッ。」 潰しても潰しても、沸いて出てくるレギオン達に、舌打ちをしながら誠は、背中に手を回して、片手に信号銃のような単発式の拳銃を取り出してから、レギオンの集団にそのトリガーを引いた。その銃の反動で誠も、少し後ろに後退する。 「キュルルルルッ！」 その拳銃とはいえない代物に撃たれたレギオンは、ライフルなどを簡単に弾く外骨格をまるでアルミ缶を握りつぶした様に身体を変形させて、軽く１０ｍほど吹き飛ばされて から周りのレギオンを巻き込みながら爆散した。 誠は、その光景を眺めずに、中折れ式のその銃を排莢を地面に捨てて間髪入れずに、爆散したレギオンに、巻き込まれて勢いを止めたレギオンの群れに、凄まじい勢いで走り込みながら、そのまま跳躍し、左足を突き出した状態で跳び蹴りを叩き込む姿勢をした。 「・・・・マグナムライダーキック。」 先頭のレギオンにその左足が触れた瞬間、仮面ライダーリュミエールの紋章が輝き、凄まじい閃光が放射状に光を放ち、その威力に 女王までの海路を開くが如く、扇状に周囲の物を吹き飛ばしていた。 その威力は、目に見えて分かるくらい仮面ライダーリュミエールの使うマグナムライダーキックを遙かに上回る威力をであった。 しかし、彼の攻撃は、未だ終わることなく、背中に威圧的にある巨大な剣を 引き抜きぬいた。 「・・・・これで終わりだ。」 そう言うと誠は、腰を深く落とし、その巨大な剣を刺突を決めるように構えながら、 巨大な剣の剣先から２ｍほどの仮面ライダープリュムの紋章が、映し出されて先ほどの閃光と負けないくらいの光を放つ。 「・・・・セイント・レイ。」 誠は、音速のような早さでその紋章の中に飛び込んだ。 その紋章を突破すると、誠の身体は、紅蓮の炎の様に赤熱の光を放ち、 迸る火の粉をまき散らしながら、女王に向けてその赤熱の炎はより一層、輝きを増して 突貫した。 「ギュルルルルルッ！！！」 そして、その炎が、女王を突き抜けた瞬間、頭部以外の部位を一瞬で溶かしつくして その頭部も、その断末魔の叫びと共に、灰に返った。 「・・・・冥府の門は開かれた。・・・・恐れることはない。 ・・・・安らかに眠れ。」 誠は、巨大な剣を、露払いをするように一度大きく振るい背中のホルダーに戻した。 その瞬間、周囲の景観がペンキをぶちまけた様によどんだ赤い夕闇の色に覆われて、 大地は荒廃し、まともな生物が生活出来るとは到底思えない。 そして何より印象的なのは、辺り構わず大量の屍骸が放置されている事だ。 クリーチャーらしきものと判断できなくもないが、損壊が激しすぎて断定はできない。 「・・・・なるほど、ここがクリーチャーの世界ということか。」 誠は、その周囲の状況を見ながら、先ほど成美達に聞いた世界と寸分変わらない光景を、 そして、先程から周囲に夥しい数のクリーチャー反応が感じ取れるが、 全くの動揺を見せず無表情にそう語った。 「・・・・来るさっさと来い。」 ここがクリーチャーの世界である以上、人間達の世界のような制約はないだろう。 だからこそ、周囲で様子を伺っているクリーチャー達に、挑発するような物の言い方をする。 「「「グルルァアアアアアア！！！」」」 その挑発に乗るように、誠の周囲を囲んでいるクリーチャー達が、一斉に飛び出てきた。 「・・・・お前達の力・・・・今こそ貸して貰う。」 誠は、その状況でも全く動じる事なく、懐から純白と漆黒の大型自動拳銃を引き抜くと両手を突き出して交差させる。 「・・・・マイクロウェーブ・・・・クラスターカノン。」 誠が静かにそう告げ、銃口の先にレギオンの様な模様の紋章が現れる。 「・・・・シュート。」 誠がトリガーを引いた瞬間、レギオンの放つマイクロウェーブカノンのように、 白熱の光がスパークしながら収束されてゆき、白熱の光が解き放たれる。 その白熱の光を解き放つ二挺の大型自動拳銃を真一文字に払いながら振るう。 「「ギュルルァアアアアアア！！！」」 マイクロ波の収束砲の前に一瞬にクリーチャー達は、 次々と蒸発してゆき、最中に断末魔の叫びを上げる。 その白熱の光は、一向に途切れる事なく鞭のように、誠の動きに合わせて縦横無尽に次々とクリーチャー達を消失させる。 彼らは、次々と消し飛ばされる仲間を、見ながらやっと理解することが出来た。 その目の前にいるのは、滅多に見ることのない極上のえさではなく・・・・ 「自分たちを狩る狩人」ということを、そしてその狩人の前では、 蛍の光が幾ら集まっても太陽の光には、到底敵わないことと同じくらいの歴然の差だ。 そして、最後の一匹が消し飛んだ瞬間に、彼らには、その誠の姿が、 「人の皮を被った化け物」という言葉が浮かんだが、既に意味がなかった。 「・・・・どうした、もうかかってこないのか？」 誠は、純白と漆黒の大型二挺拳銃を懐にしまうと、先ほどの誠と血気盛んなクリーチャーとの戦いと言うには、あまりにも圧倒的な戦いを見せつけられていた。 その成り行きを伺っていたクリーチャー達に、もはや戦意などとうにおれてしまい、畏怖に近い眼差しを向けて誠の周りから離れていった。 「・・・・そうするといい。・・・・巻き込まれたくなければな。」 誠は、その様子を見ながら、分かりにくいが、やや憂鬱な雰囲気を覗かせた。 「「ギュルルァアアアアアア！！！」」 誠の周りから離れていったクリーチャー達の断末魔の叫び声が聞こえ、そちらの方に 誠が眼を傾けると、そこには、黒い影のような剣が、大量に突き刺さっていた。 「相変わらず、悪魔のくせに甘い人だ。敵対する物そして、・・・・使えない物・・・・徹底的に潰すべきでしょ？ねえ？悪魔。」 そこには、パチンと指を鳴らしながら、影という影から無数の剣が意志のあるように、 クリーチャー達を突き刺していた司祭がいた。 「・・・・このような異形の者達と手を組んでいるとは、教会も落ちた物だな。サリエル」 誠は、突如現れた司祭に驚きもせず、つまらなそうにいった。 「貴方のような悪魔がいつもいつも邪魔してくれるからですよ。 けれど、私のベルトがわかったとは流石だ。」 サリエルと呼ばれた司祭は、そう言うとオーバーリアクションに驚いた素振りを見せる。 「・・・・別次元と別次元の空間の広範囲における接続や、先ほどの影から作り出す幻影の剣などを見せられれば、そのような芸当が出来る能力など容易に想像がつく。」 誠は、そのサリエルの反応に感が触ったのか、いつも以上にぶっきらぼうに言い返した。 「ほぉ・・・ただの戦闘狂という訳ではないらしいな。」 サリエルは、オーバーに感心したようにいいながら誠を眺めた。 「・・・・貴様がここにいるということは、ここが終点か？」 誠は、ぶっきらぼうに返しながら、背中の剣に手をかけた。 「そうだな。けれど、まだ私がお前と戦う時ではない。・・・・けど安心しろ。ちゃんと今度も相手は用意している。」 司祭は、一瞬、己を殺気だけで殺しかねない誠のそれを、軽く受け流す。 「・・・・つくづく、悪趣味だな。」 誠は、サリエルの横から現れた純白の神に仕える者の服に儀式用で切れ味がいいかどうか分からない剣を身につけていた少女がいた。 顔は、目元をバイザーの様な物で覆われていたため分からないが、特徴的な乳白色のやや外に跳ねた髪がその正体を容易に想像させた。 そして、その様子を見るに目元をバイザーで隠されているため分からないが、確実に強力な暗示等の物がかけられている事も想像できた。 「彼女の親友すら情け容赦なく、殺せた血も涙もない悪魔なのだから、簡単な事だろ？ ・・・・それとも、彼女はあの仮面ライダーと違って化け物じゃないから出来ないのか？」 サリエルは実に面白そうに笑いながら、誠を見下して眺めた。 「・・・・貴様。」 誠は、顔には全く分からないが、明らかにそこには怒りがそこはあった。 そして、そのまま大剣を引き抜きながら、サリエルに斬りかかる。 「なんだ？また、悪魔のくせに人間のように怒ったのか？ 私は、嘘を言っていないぞ？あの化け物を殺したのは、紛れもない貴様なんだからなっ！」 サリエルは、そう言うと誠の斬撃を、紙一重で避けてさらに笑った。 「・・・・俺のことは、どう言われようとどうでもいい。されど、 ・・・・あいつのことだけは、誰であろうが、そのような事は言わせない。 ・・・・あいつは・・・・俺とは違って人間だ。・・・・人間なんだ。」 誠は、いつものような低い声ではあったが、その言葉は、いつもにまして凄みがましていた。 「はははっ、教会が恐れる悪魔と言われても、実際紐解いてみたら「ただの青臭いガキ」だったとはな！・・・・それに、お前の相手は、私じゃないぞ？」 サリエルはそう言うと、誠をねらう一降りの剣の一線が横切る。 「・・・・！？」 誠は、飛び退いて避けるが、彼には珍しく驚きの表情を見せる。 それは、籐子の剣のスピードがあり得ないからだ。 しかも、頬を擦っただけでぱっくりと切り裂かれたからだ。 「驚いただろう。今彼女が着込んでいる服は、我々の持つベルトの能力を完全とは、言わないがある程度は体現出来る代物だ。それにあの手にしている剣は、私の「シャドウ・サーヴァント」同様のお前の再生能力を遅くさせることが出来るウィルスが仕込まれている。」 サリエルは、自分の絶対的優位を確信してか自慢げに笑いながら言った。 「・・・・くっ。」 誠は、藤子の攻撃を避けながら、苦渋の表情を見せた。 この剣を振り落とせば、終わることは少なくとも、容易に想像出来た。 けれど、柚子と同じような結末は決してしたくなかった。 そうすれば、成美や柚子が、そして、何よりも誠自身が深い後悔の念に駆られるからだ。 「おやおや、余計なことを考えているようですね。」 サリエルは、パチンっと指を鳴らすと、誠自身の映し出した影から斬撃が飛んでくる。 「・・・・っ！？」 誠は、突き出てきた漆黒の剣の柱を間一髪で避けるが、その避けた先には既に、藤子が待ち構えており、その無防備な誠に、左肩から袈裟に斬りつけた。 「悠長に考えている時間など、貴様にはない。」 サリエルは、斬りつけられた肩口に手を当てる誠に、さらに追い打ちをかけるように誠の周囲にある大量の屍からなる影から、そして、空を覆う夕闇からも、四方八方から シャドウ・サーヴァントが誠に狙いをすませている。 「・・・・このままでは、彼女まで巻き込むぞ？」 誠は、肩で息をしながら周囲に張り巡らされたシャドウ・サーヴァントを 眺めながらいった。 「貴様を、ここで屠ることが出来るのならば、小さすぎる犠牲だな。 ・・・そうだな。あえて言うとすると悪魔退治のための「貴い犠牲」というやつだな。」 サリエルは、愉快そうに笑いながらそれが「どうした？」という風に告げる。 ・・・・そして・・・・ 「チェックメイトだ。」 パチンと指を鳴らして、その膨大な数の漆黒の剣は、誠に狙いを定めて一斉に発射される。 「・・・・っ！？」 誠は、その攻撃に始まる瞬間、音速に迫る勢いで籐子に駆けより、その胸に構えられている剣に構わずに藤子の身体を、覆い隠す様に強く抱きしめる。 その時、籐子の眼だけは、驚きと困惑の色を覗かせたが、誠にはそれを見ている余裕などなかった。 「・・・・巻き込んで・・・・すまない。」 ズブリという身体を突き抜ける痛み腹部に感じながらも誠は、藤子の頭を下げさせて しゃがませる。その瞬間に、黒い影剣が一斉に誠に向けて放出された。 （・・・えっ・・・） 藤子は、どこか眠っているような微睡みの中にいた意識が、パチンという音と共に覚醒していたが、「何故ここにいるのか？」「ここはどこなのか？」と自分の今の状況に理解できずにいた。しかし、自分が朱い液体のついた剣を持っており、その液体が人の血であることはすぐに理解した。驚き、その剣を投げ捨てようとしたのだが、誰かに操られているように身体が動かす事が出来ない。そのことに、叫ぼうとするのだが、口を動かす事が出来ず視覚と聴覚以外の感覚だけ切り捨てられているようだった。 （・・・・ちょっと・・・・どうなってるのよ！？） 藤子は、言葉に出せない為、心の中で戸惑いの声を上げて、今、目に見えている情報だけで状況を確認しようとする。 するとそこには、何かで斬りつけられている肩口を押さえていた青年。 その容姿からすると、あの黒蟷螂にだまされている自分から黒蟷螂を引き離そうとした 青年だった。そして、その彼が、自分に一気に駆けよってきた。 （嘘！？） そして、彼の行動に眼だけは驚きの表情を見せる。 彼は、自分が胸に構えている剣を気にせずに、強く抱きしめてその剣に、腹部を貫く。 その腕には、ズブリと、嫌な生々しい感触だけが腕に残り、その手を離そうとするが、 身体はまだ言うことを聞いてくれない。 「・・・・巻き込んで・・・・すまない。」 彼は、自分にしか聞こえない位の声で、ぶっきらぼうであるが、すまなそうな顔をさせて 剣が深く刺さることを構わずに、自分を強く抱きしめて、頭を下げさせてしゃがませた。 そして、その瞬間、強烈な衝撃が、目の前にいる彼を通して藤子にも感じさせられた。 永遠に続くかも知れない衝撃が終わった瞬間、藤子が眼を開けると、そこには自分が持っている剣が腹部に刺さり背中から突き抜けているほどの強く抱きしめていた誠が、 全身をズタズタになるまで受けたほどの切り傷と首から下には、全身に黒い剣が突き刺さっていた。 「うっ、・・・・きゃーーーーっ！？」 藤子は、その惨劇を見た瞬間に、やっと戻ってきた言葉で悲鳴を上げて剣から手を離した。 「・・・・大丈夫か。」 誠は、その様な状態でありながらも、藤子の無事を確認すると安心した様子で笑っていた。 「すいません・・・すいません・・・すいません・・・すいません。」 藤子は、自分の意志で身体が動かなかったとはいえ、それでも、何度も何度も 誤り続けていた。 「・・・・君が無事ならばそれでいい。」 誠は、何度も謝る藤子をそのボロボロの腕で優しく頭を撫でて、「全く気にしていない」という包み込む様な笑顔を見せた。 「・・・・それよりも、汚してすまない」 藤子は一瞬、何を言っているか分からないという素振りを見せるが、自分を見て一瞬で理解した。自分の全身が、誠の血液によって真っ赤に染まっているからだ。 藤子は、このボロボロな自分のことよりも、先に他人にばかり気にする彼に、怒りを覚えた。 「馬鹿っ！！！！そんなことよりも、傷口を手当てしないと！！！」 藤子は、誠の身体に突き刺さっている自分を刺した剣を引き抜こうと手をかけるが・・・ 「とんだ化け物だな。不死と言うこと噂は本当のようだな。 お前には、まだやって貰うことが在るのでこちらに来て貰うぞ！」 その行く手を阻んだのは、サリエルであった。 サリエルは、無理矢理に籐子の手を取り引っ張り上げる。 「いやっぁぁぁぁ！！！」 藤子は、振り払おうとするが、その手を払うことが出来ず、無理矢理に引きずられる。 「このままでは、面倒だな。」 サリエルは、額から第三の眼のような物が現れて、その瞳を藤子を見つめながら パチンと指を鳴らした。 「・・・・・」 それまで抵抗していた藤子の抵抗が止み、先ほどと同じような傀儡状態に戻った。 そして、その場から離れようとするが、足に重みを感じて、視線を落とす。 「・・・・待て。」 そこには、ボロボロな状況にもかかわらず誠が、神父の足を掴んでいた。 「・・・・鬱陶しいんだよっ！！！ ・・・貴様のその偽善者撲っている所がな！！！」 サリエルは、足に取りつく誠を振り払い、顔に思いっきり蹴りを入れた。 「悪魔の癖に、何様のつもりだ！！！ 貴様が善人撲った所で貴様の存在自体が諸悪の根源なんだぞ！！ そんなに、誰かの為になりたくば、さっさと死んだ方が世の中の為だ！！！」 サリエルは、誠の行動が癪に触ったのか、必要以上に誠の顔を踏みつけながら叫ぶ。 「後は、貴様に任せるぞ・・・・・まあ、こんなゴミに何の価値があるか分からないがな」 サリエルはそう告げると藤子と共に、姿を消した。 「・・・・待て。」 誠は、口から血を流しながら、振り絞ったような声を上げる。 「貴様ノ相手ハ、コノ俺ダ。」 すると、サリエルの去った場から琥珀蟷螂が、その姿を現した。 そして、動けずにいる誠の背に、自慢の鎌を突き刺して放り投げる。 「オ前ノ話ヲ、聞イテ興味ガ沸イタ。 「神殺シ」ト呼バレル貴様ノ力を是非トモ取リ込モウト思ッテナ。」 琥珀蟷螂は、その突き刺した鎌に滴る誠の血を舐めた。 「ナルホド、タッタコレダケノ量デ、全身カラ力ガミナギッテクル。 悪魔ノ力トハ凄イモノダナ。ソレニ先ホドノ戦イニオイテ、ソノ身ニ受ケタ攻撃とソノ「斬魔神剣」デ切リ裂イタ者ノ能力吸収能力ハ俺を越エルモノダナ。」 琥珀蟷螂は、ボロボロでもう立つことすら出来ない誠を見ながら、誠の血に酔いしれていた。 「・・・・鈴、悪いな。」 誠は、もう動かない身体を見ながら、静かにここにはいない鈴に謝罪する。 すると、その時、誠の首にかけられているロケットが、先ほど投げ飛ばされた時に、出てきたのかそのロケットの蓋が開けられた。 そこには、一人のやんちゃそうな男の子とその後ろに隠れている控えめそうな女の子そしてその二人を優しく抱いている女性が、写っているセピア色の写真が、姿を現す。 「・・・・郁・・・・今からそこに行けるかも知れない。・・・・いや、俺の行き先は地獄か。」 誠は、苦笑しながらそのようなことをいった。 「何ヲ笑ッテイル・・・・マアイイ、マズハ貴様ノ首ヲ切リ落トシテカラ 全身スミズミマデ食ソウ。」 琥珀蟷螂は、そう言うとその自慢の鎌を振り上げた。 誠も「これで終わりか」と思いながら静かに、眼を閉じた。 「ごぉっ！！」 その振り上げられた鎌を、誠に振り落とされる事はなく、琥珀蟷螂は、うめき声と共に、吹っ飛んだ様な音をさせた。 そして、誠がその瞳を開けるとそこには、 「な～に、みっともない姿をしてんのよ？」 そこには、病院の患者が着ているような服を纏った柚子が、にっこりと笑いながら、 誠を見ていた。 「柚子先輩！！病み上がりなんですから無茶しては、だめですって！」 その後ろから、あかねが心配そうに叫んだ。 「大丈夫、大丈夫。あんな怪我こんだけ寝れば直ってるって♪」 柚子は、大丈夫であることをアピールするように、片腕をぐるぐると回した。 「・・・・そんな所で、寝てないで速く立ちなさい。」 柚子は、誠の手を引っ張り上体を起こさせると、怒ったような表情を見せる。 「・・・・けが人に対してはひどい扱いだな。」 誠は、いつもの無表情な表情で、ぶっきらぼうに答える。 「あんたは、こんな所で這い蹲って負ける人間じゃない。 あんたのことを「リオナ」さんから聞いたわ。 あんたは、その力を忌み嫌っているのかも知れないけど・・・・私は、誰がなんと言おうと、あんたのことを信じてる。 例え、あんた自身が、自分のその力を嫌いでも、頼りないかも知れないけど私は、好きでいてあげる。 ・・・・それに、あんたを倒していいのは、後にも先にも、この柚子生徒会長様だけなんだから♪」 柚子は、照れくさそうにしているが、その瞳は真剣に誠のことを見つめていた。 「・・・・郁、ごめんな。・・・・まだ、俺は、そこには行けない。」 誠は、小声でぼそりと呟きながら、ロケットを胸の奥にしまい、ぼろぼろの身体を、無理矢理奮い立たせて、大剣を杖にするように立ち上がる。 「何ヲ、ゴチャゴチャ言ッテイル。他カガ、小娘２匹ガ増エタクライデイイ気ニナルナ。」 そう言うと、琥珀蟷螂は、咆吼をあげると、夥しいほどのクリーチャーと地中から夥しいほどのレギオンを呼び出した。 「あかねちゃんは、安全な所に隠れててぇー！！！」 柚子は、後ろに振り返り、そう叫ぶ。 「わかりましたー！先輩達も気をつけてください！！！」 あかねは、そう言うと大きな岩の物陰に隠れた。 「・・・・敵は多いぞ？・・・・大丈夫か？」 誠は、ぶっきらぼうながらに、柚子を心配するような言葉をかける。 「そうね。でも、大したことはないわ。 だって、今日は、私と誠・・・・二人のダブルライダーなんだから。」 柚子は、にっこり笑いながら答える。 「・・・・俺は、「仮面ライダー」を名乗れる資格なんて有りはしない。」 誠は、苦虫を噛みつぶしたような表情を見せる。
